Confluence Setup Guide

Purpose

This guide will walk you through the process of integrating Confluence with Mizo. The Confluence integration allows you to sync your Confluence Cloud spaces and pages into Mizo’s knowledge base, enabling AI-powered ticket suggestions and resolution documentation.

Section 1 – Create an API Token in Confluence

Follow these steps to generate an API token in your Atlassian account:

Step 1: Access Atlassian Account Settings

  1. Log in to your Atlassian account at https://id.atlassian.com
  2. Click on your profile picture in the top right corner
  3. Select Account settings from the dropdown menu

Step 2: Generate API Token

  1. In the left sidebar, click on Security
  2. Click on Create and manage API tokens
  3. Click the Create API token button
  4. Enter Mizo Agent as description
  5. Set the expiration date the furthest possible.
  6. Click Create

CAUTION: Copy the API token immediately after creation. You will not be able to view it again. Store it securely - you’ll need it in the next section.

Step 3: Note Your Configuration Details

Before proceeding to Mizo, make sure you have the following information:

  • Instance URL: Your Confluence Cloud URL (e.g., https://your-company.atlassian.net)
  • Email: The email address associated with your Atlassian account
  • API Token: The token you just created

Section 2 – Configure Confluence Integration in Mizo

Now that you have your API token, configure the integration in your Mizo console:

Step 1: Access the Integrations Page

  1. Log in to your Mizo console
  2. Navigate to Integrations from the main menu
  3. Locate the Confluence card in the Available Integrations section
  4. Click on the Confluence card to open the configuration modal

Step 2: Enter Configuration Details

In the Confluence configuration form, enter the following information:

  1. Instance URL

    • Enter your Confluence Cloud URL
    • Format: https://your-company.atlassian.net
    • Do not include /wiki or any page paths
  2. Email

    • Enter the email address associated with your Atlassian account
    • This must match the email used to generate the API token
  3. API Token

    • Paste the API token you generated in the previous section
    • The token will be encrypted and stored securely

Step 3: Save and Test Connection

  1. Click the Save button
  2. The system will automatically test the connection to your Confluence instance
  3. Once successful, you should see a green checkmark with “Confluence is configured successfully”
  4. The integration status will change to Active

If the test fails, verify that:

  • The Instance URL is correct and doesn’t include /wiki or trailing slashes
  • The email matches your Atlassian account
  • The API token was copied correctly without extra spaces
  • Your Atlassian account has permission to view at least one Confluence space

What Gets Synced

The Confluence integration syncs the following:

ConfluenceMizoDescription
SpacesCustomers/CompaniesOrganizational units in Confluence
PagesKnowledge Base ArticlesSearchable documentation content
AttachmentsAssetsFiles, images, and media

Note: Only published pages are synced. Draft pages, archived spaces, and empty pages are automatically excluded.

Permissions

The API token you create should have:

  • Read access to view spaces and pages (required for syncing)
  • Write access to create/update pages (optional, needed only for creating resolution documentation from tickets)

Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues during setup:

Connection Test Fails:

  • Verify your Instance URL format (should be https://your-company.atlassian.net without /wiki)
  • Check that your email and API token are correct
  • Ensure your Atlassian account has access to at least one Confluence space
  • Try generating a new API token and updating the configuration

No Spaces or Pages Syncing:

  • Verify your Atlassian account has permission to view spaces
  • Check that spaces are not archived
  • Ensure pages are published (not drafts)
  • Review system logs for any sync errors

Sync Taking Too Long:

  • Initial sync can take several minutes for large Confluence instances
  • Subsequent syncs are much faster (incremental updates only)
  • Contact support if sync appears stuck for more than 30 minutes

Important Notes

  • This integration supports Confluence Cloud only (not Confluence Server or Data Center)
  • Only one Confluence integration can be configured per Mizo tenant
  • You can revoke the token at any time from your Atlassian account settings
